Authenticity
For those collecting or those wishing to collect Ditchfield glass, we want to help you make sure that what you are purchasing from other sellers is authentic.
Unique Collection
From 1982 onwards, the Unique Collection was catalogued, allowing us to assist you in authenticating a piece if you are considering purchasing it from another seller. Usually, you will find 'John Ditchfield', 'Glasform' and a number engraved on the base of the piece. Hopefully, there will also be a black and gold sticker.
Studio Collection
The Studio Collection does not carry the full signatures but may have 'Glasform' or 'GF' engraved on the base along with the gold and black label.
Gallery Collection
The Gallery Collection should always have engraved on the base 'Glasform' and 'J Ditchfield', or on the very small pieces, 'JD'. These should also have a gold and black label on the base.
Pieces with Silver
In 1984, John worked with a Lancastrian silversmith named David Howard - this resulted in one of John's most recognised pieces, lily pad discs with a silver frog sat atop. This led to other designs like the 'Spider' paperweight, the 'Cat Cushion', 'Floating Lily' and 'Beehive', to name a few. When looking to buy a piece with silver, please note that the silver pieces were specially designed, so if the silver does not resemble that of any of the images below, it is likely not an authentic Ditchfield piece.
